There are a ton of different wines out there. Many mass produced to the point that the wine is synonymous with price and/ or consistency. The pleasure of my job is when I get to enjoy wines that are focused more on the nuances of the grape, and the character of the wine maker. When I am able to find the quality at a price that is lower or evenly priced with less inferior wines that are out there, I consider those gems, and it is one the best things about my job. In tasting through some of the Vina Robles portfolio, I am delighted with the wines, and ecstatic about the prices. If you are looking for a nicely priced wine without passing on quality of the juice, then you may want to checkout some of these wines.

This four grape white blend (Viognier 46%, Verdelho 19%, Vermintino 19%, Sauvignon Blanc 16%) may not have the most creative name, but that is probably because all the brain power went into making this wine! It is a fantastic daily sipper. Perfect for PTA meetings, tennis lessons, or whatever sophisticated (not the ones on TV) housewives do.

Ok, I really like this Sauv. Blanc! I like that it is mild, and does not punch me in the face with that cat pee smell on the nose and it does not have so much of that grapefruit acidity that I am reaching for a heartburn relief pill. Simple and elegant approach to the grape that I find very pleasant.

Oh here we go again with the marketing genius *rolls eyes*. This red blend (Petite Sirah 50%, Syrah 20%, Grenache 20%, Mouvedre 10%) is bright to the rim. Wait a minute, this wine is not as simple as the name would lead you to believe! This thing is much more meaty and old world than I expected. I dig it!

Oh how nice. This one smells as classic as the name suggests… it’s a Cab! Vanilla, blackberry, and cassis are some of the main notes I find laced in this fantastic little glass. You need absolutely no food, no friends, and no spouse to enjoy this wine. It’s wonderful just the way it is, and did I mention that it is under $20? Crazy price winning alert!
Petite Sirah (2010) 90 points
It smells of cola and spice. When all you wine hipsters are done with your Malbec fad and are ready for something on that next level, come pop this cork and fill thy glass. You will become the friend to follow when you unleash this on your friends.

For a wine, this is kind of dank! It’s dusty, pencil shaving, mushroom qualities on the nose are followed up by leaving a not so subtle impression as it moves through my mouth. This is a wine you do not share, unless you are asking your boss for a raise, or your girlfriends’ Dad if you can marry her. Otherwise, this is much more satisfying when you know that you will enjoy every last drop.
