Between the Humble Weekly Bundle and last weekend’s big Steam sale we’re sure a lot of you picked up a copy of RPG Maker and are wondering what to do with it. Never fear though, we’re running a summer long competition to see who can make the best RPG! Get creative and make something the world has never seen before!
You have until the end of August to make the best game you can make. Sign up by RSVPing to the event and get cracking on a game! You can team up if you want and we’ll also be working on games ourselves. Prizes will be revealed on a weeklyish basis and feel free to use this page to talk about/hype up your projects, ask for advice, join teams, etc, etc, just make sure to stay on topic. We will do our best to cover your games on our site as well as long as you’ve got actual content to show off. Judging will take place during the first couple of weeks of September and we’ll do a ceremony stream in which we choose a winner and all of that fun stuff. The best games will be included in a Space City Nerd RPG bundle in which all the proceeds go to Extra Life. There will be tons of other fun surprises along the way too.
If you still don’t have a copy of RPG Maker you can pick it up for a dollar(!) at https://
Some rules and such after the jump.
RULES AND CONDITIONS
- We’re going to be making our own games and stuff too but it’d be cheating if a member of Space City Nerd won this thing. As much as you might want Ryan to write the script for your Tsundere Kaiju fangame or have Rex make a really tasteless theme song to play on your title screen we can’t help make any of the actual game content.
- You must be 21 years or older to claim any alcohol related prizes.
- You WILL be able to keep the copyright to all of your stuff as long as it doesn’t infringe on anyone else’s copyrights. We will probably ask you if you want to include your game in some sort of post-contest bundle and if that makes you uncomfortable you don’t have to include your game in any bundle we wind up making.
- All submissions must be in our hands by whatever means necessary by 12:00 AM September 1st. No exceptions unless something really awful happens.
