Jesus, Ryan and Rex gather to talk about the Tokyo Game Show, Ryan and Jesus recap the Untapped Festival experience and we all talk about sad Asian commercials. Ming Chen joins us once again to talk about Comicpalooza’s Fan Fair and whipping his periscope out at it, living in an Airstream Trailer, and what Comic Book Men has been up to…this one’s a fun interview. We close out the show talking more about the amazing event that is Re:Play, WWE’s Night of Champions, and our own take on Comicpalooza’s Fan Fair!

Jesus and Ryan talk about their weekend at Amazing, which was….uh…AMAZING! A bit of Force Friday is mentioned, as is more MGS stuff. Starting with our first song break, we cover this weekend’s Untapped Beer Festival by playing the artists that’ll be featured at the festival, and with our special guest, Lone Pint. Blake and Heather from Lone Pint talk to us about beer names, having one of the nation’s top IPAs, the brewing community, and much more. For our third part, we go over the entire beer list for Untapped and throw in anecdotes related to some of the beers on said list. Fun beer fueled long show! (Except for Rex since he can’t drink beer anymore. )

Things are back to normal after Jesus’ computer went down last week, and this show is semi-NSFW plus our typical crude humor! This week Rex, Ryan and Jesus are joined by Alva from the Pop N Schlock Podcast because Sean is too busy doing cool video game stuff elsewhere. Rex talks about his first 8 hours with Metal Gear Solid: V, Mad Max gets a mention, Deadpool: The Videogame re-release woes. We then bring our super special guest, Toby Proctor to talk about Sailor Moon, being Tackleberry, has to deal with Alva spilling her spaghetti all over the place, and Amazing Houston Comic Con. Here comes the hate: We talk about BlueBell and how scary the brand loyalty is. Then we just get inappropriate, sorry Tuxedo Mask.

It’s celebration time here at SCN HQ as we hit the 100th episode! We kick it off with a rare glimpse to our very first episode, and reveal the new SCN theme song done by the one and only Hot Dad! We talk a bit about the past and delve into the future of SCN as well. Ryan and Jesus talk about whiskey and give some cool facts and tips about drinking it. Then we talk about Ashley Madison, because Ashley Madison. We’re joined by MegaBots, some of the most American folks on the planet, as we discuss their Kickstarter to kick some Japanese mech ass! Super proud of these guys and it was totally a patriotic honor to have them and it’s your patriotic duty to back their Kickstarter! We then talk about Re:Play, a monstrous gaming evening in Houston, head over to our Facebook to find out how to win. Thanks again for listening, here’s to 100 more!

Full show again. We talk Dragonball Z: RF, bootleg video games, and Rex makes us tap out with his description of Sonic Dreams. We then bring on Alva from “Pop ‘n’ Schlock” and Bryan from “Bry-Fy Podcast” on to join us for a mega science minute that turns into the GOP debates. Sean talks about what’s troubling him at home, then what the internet has ruined for him at work. Stay tuned next week and help us celebrate episode 100!

We had a great time at last year’s Classic Game Fest but nothing could have prepared us for this year’s edition. More arcade machines, more guests, more panels, more tournaments, more crazy things to buy… it was incredibly overwhelming, somehow even moreso than last year’s con. Continue reading »
This show has a full house, and also a ton of topics covered. Sadly our guest could not make it so that let us go wild, and we did. Rex apologizes to Microsoft, Jesus thinks a Netflix show is too white for him but is excited for DBZ’s new movie, we pay our respects to Rowdy Roddy Piper, and unfortunately unleash SCIENCE MINUTE once again. We found a weird Pizza Hut menu and that shows our old age seeping in as we rant about the youth of today’s entertainment. As we recorded this, the Deadpool trailer hit and we discuss it….it’s not pretty, we talk about Houston’s Sentai Filmworks being on Toonami, and lastly, some Sailor Moon stuff. Phew. Just remember we love you.

Kind of a long episode, we were in Austin for Classic Game Fest and you can hear some of the adventures we had involving Miyamoto/Ryan and Dong Dong. We got to interview the other half of Nintendo Quest (excellent film!) and also the legendary Todd Rogers, the first person to get paid professionally to play video games. We then headed to the Microsoft Store at Baybrook Mall to get a rundown on Windows 10 as it is released today!

This one is definitely on the NSFW/Mature listeners scale! This week Ryan, Sean, Jesus and Rex talk about the Funnie Force Tour, Jesus abandoning his beloved Windows Phone and then get into some controversial Nickelodeon stuff. Then we’re joined by Rob McCallum of “Nintendo Quest” to talk about this incredibly unique documentary and how you can see it at CGF in Austin or in Houston at the Drafthouse! Finally, we talk about CGF in depth and then get into Ant-Man and “Luis”. Thanks again for helping us reach 1,000 Facebook “Likes”!

Welp, Jesus screwed the pooch on this one and used the wrong mic, so bear with him as he sounds like he’s got a couple of marshmallows in his mouth. But on this episode, we talk a teeny bit of SDCC, Mr. Robot, remember Nintendo’s late CEO, and bring on Joseph Devine of Bitforce. We give more details about the Funnie Force tour, our plans for Classic Games Fest and we pick on Rex again for having a gluten allergy (gluten free fanfic included).
